Another 3 day delay for this to work through the system and I could finally see the EID in my catalog and order it. Once that was finished, I had to wait for someone to manually enter the acknowledgement that I had taken/passed the course and this apparently can't be hurried. Of course, when I tried this, I had to call back to get permission to even SEE the course before I could sign up and take the 10 minutes of 'training'. Another call and a few hours later I received an email that directed me to take an on line course on the 25 kHz regulations. I'm a ham, so I needed the 25 kHz Entitlement ID (EID).

Not too bad and you have the CPS along with 3 years of updates to the software AND the radio firmware. I was in a hurry, so I called and got them to enable my online access to the files (they warned me that once they do this, returns/cancellations are not permitted - no problem for me).

Once you have the license show up on your MOL account, you can order the CPS and a CD will be sent to you. If it takes longer, call and ask for help.

It helps to remember that you're dealing with a very large corporation that is set up to deal government agencies more than individuals, so (again), be polite, be patient, but persist.Īfter getting the account set up, you have to sign the software license and like almost anything they do, it takes about 3 days for that to get approved and acknowledged. Being polite goes a long way, too.įirst, it does depend a bit on who you get when you call, but I almost always get someone who is nice. I just went through this recently, and it does take a bit of persistence along with a healthy dose of patience, but in the end it is well worth it.

The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate just purchase it.įor M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules.
